Ronaldo set to make early return

Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to make an early return from injury for United's opening UCL match against Villarreal.

Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Ronaldo could feature on Wednesday, as well as against Chelsea next weekend."

"He's been making great strides in the direction towards first-team football," added the United boss.

Ferguson also added: "Ronaldo is training well and he may back to Chelsea's match on 21 September. He's making a rapid progress in terms on overcoming the injury problem. He's doing a good physios."
