Rooney the main man

Wayne Rooney looks to be back to his very best if his fantastic display at the weekend is anything to go by, and it will be up to Rooney to secure our passage into the next round of the Champions League.

We should have finished Arsenal off last week, but we didn’t do we still have a lot to do but if Rooney plays the way he has been lately there is nothing that they can do to stop him.

Rooney never looked comfortable before when he played out wide on the left but he has certainly shown he can now, and if he continues to show this type of form in a Man Utd shirt until the end of the season then he will almost certainly help Man Utd to win both the league and Champions League.

Rio be fit for Tuesday Clash v Arsenal

Rio Ferdinand could be fit for United's second-leg Champions League showdown with Arsenal after scans revealed he had not cracked a rib.

He will miss United's premier league game against Middlesbrough on Saturday but Sir Alex Ferguson is confident could be fit to face The Gunners.

"Hopefully we can get him ready for Tuesday, he seems almost back to normal" said The Scot Man.

Preview: Manchester United v Middlesborough

Wes Brown returns to United squad for the first time since the end of January. Rio Ferdinand ruled out by a rib injury. Brown has been drafted into the United squad as cover for Jonny Evans following his recovery from a foot injury.

Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney could be playing this Saturday, although more senior players could be involved after the win against The Gunners at OT.

Giggs wins Player of the Year

Ryan Giggs has finally won the Professional Football Associations player of the year award which is the highest award that can be given by his fellow footballers.

It is astonishing that this is the first time in his 18 year professional career that he has won the award after having some fantastic success with Man Utd. Giggs has only had 12 starts this season so it is amazing that he has managed to win it this time round, but he has more than deserved it for his performances over the years.

Man Utd had 5 of the 6 nominees with Namanja Vidic being the favourite to pick up the award but Giggs was clearly delighted to have finally picked up the award.

Giggs has been one of the most consistent and star performers in a Man Utd shirt for the best part of 20 years and could still have a major role to play in securing the title and hopefully the Champions League.

Giggs has played more games for United than anyone else, even surpassing the great Bobby Charlton.

There is some disagreement as to whether Giggs should have won this year’s award but what we can say for certain is that he should probably have won it long before now.

United v Spurs: Don't miss this great match!

Rio Ferdinand on the bench, against Pompey last Wednesday.

Rio Ferdinand is fit to face Tottenham for Saturday's tea-time, while Rafael will start at right-back following injuries to Gary Neville and John O'Shea.

Rio Ferdinand was rested on Wednesday's win over Portsmouth after playing 120 minutes in the FA Cup semi-final. Rio has struggled with a groin problem, but he is to be recalled into the starting XL.

Ferdinand was rested against Pompey because of the important matches that is coming up.

United's next rivals are tough. First, we have to play against Tottenham. The Wednesday, with Arsenal for the UCL semi-final. Then, against Middlesbrough next Saturday at lunch time. And finally, v Arsenal again for the UCL.

Gary Neville will miss the next two weeks after hobbling out of the Pompey victory with a foot injury.

So, Don't forget this game between these fantastic teams. Surely, It will be GREAT!

Still on track for 4?

The dream died of a 5 trophy haul at the weekend with a poor performance against Everton in the FA Cup which saw us getting put out on penalties. However we are still on track to bag 4 trophies this season which wouldn’t be too shabby, but do we have enough in the tank to see it through?



Our performances have been poor of late with the team looking out of sorts, particularly defensively. At the start of the season we were impenetrable but now we appear to be there for the taking at times.



Our squad is no different from the team that looked unstoppable earlier in the season but complacency creeped into the team and they haven’t been able to get back to winning ways. We should have enough to see us through in the league but the Champions League is going to be far from easy.



The teams left in the Champions League are all top quality teams and with Arsenal starting to show some form again, so they will be difficult to beat.



We need our top players to show they want to play for the Man Utd shirt and regain some of the form that saw us crowned European Champions last season. If we can see it through back to back European trophies would be no more than Sir Alex deserves.

United will put the eye in Kaka and Ribery this summer

Dear friends, I bring you good news, whether or not so good, but apparently if Ronaldo leaves United at the end of the season (to join to Real Madrid squad), we would have good replacements.

Among the names of big soccer's star, we could bring to Brazilian star Kaka or Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery or maybe Wigan's Antonio Valencia.

Manchester City refused to pay £100m bid for Kaka, but Sir Alex Ferguson is confident that United will present a greater lure.
